James A. Webber

James A. Webber, age 95, of East Liverpool died on Friday, October 25, 2019, at the Calcutta Health Care after an extended illness.
Born in the Gardendale area of East Liverpool on November 28, 1923 he was son of the late Emmett and Emma (Brown) Webber and lived his entire life in this area. Mr. Webber had been employed at the Homer Laughlin China Company where he worked as a Store Keeper and a Project Engineer for over 40 years, retiring in 1986, he was a graduate of East Liverpool High School, Class of 1942.
Jim was proud of serving with the U.S.Army during W.W.II. spending time in the South Pacific. He received his basic training at Camp Phillips, Kansas, and was then transferred to Camp Forest in Tallahoma, Tn. From there he was trainsferred to Hawaii and was shipped from there to the island of Sihpan and then to Iwo Jima where he was stationed until the end of the war.
He attended the Longs Run Presbyterian Church now the Longs Run Trinity Presbyterian Church where he once served as an Elder and as Chairman of the Finance Committee. Jim once served as an advisor for the Ponderosa Horsemans 4 H Club. An avid golfer, he achieved 7 aces over his lifetime. He was a member of Elks Lodge 258 and the Tri-State Bowling Leage.
Jim was a lover of music and dancing, especially with his late wife of 58 years, Mary (Morrell) Webber who died on October 10, 2009.
Mr. Webber is survived by his son, Bob Webber and his wife, Rachel, of East Liverpool and his daughter, Janet Hoyt and her husband, Bruce, of Kernersville, N.C. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Bob Webber, Melissa Burchett and Skyler Warren and one great grandson, Finley Webber.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Nellis E. Webber; two sisters, Lateshia Hammond, Ruth Webber and a grandson, Ronnie Burchett.
Services will held at 1:30 PM at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 with Dr. Franklin Lewis of the Trinity Parish Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Calcutta Cemetery where the Tri-State Burial Group will accord full military honors.
Family will be present to visit with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:30 up until the time of the service.
